On the 24 of February, 2022, Russia has declared an invasion on Ukraine in an effort to prevent further advances on Independence. Ukraine wanted to Join NATO(The North Atlantic Treaty Organization), an intergovernmental organization is mean to safeguard their Western and European Allies’ freedom and security by political and military means. As a non-member and strong disputer against the organizer, Russia seeks to demiliartize Ukraine in order to prevent the threat of their future as a nation, considering that “Ukraine was the most populous and industrialized republic after the Russian SFSR, regaining its independence in 1991 with the dissolution of the Soviet Union.”(1) .
The act that Ukraine joining NATO is causing anger to Russia. If the Ukraine gets the protection from NATO, then it would be hard for Russia to do high impact on the Ukraine, and of course the money wouldn’t need to be given back to Russia.
Joe Biden, current president of the United States of America, has stated that “Russias’s already used chemical weapons in the past, and we should be careful about what’s about to come,” predicting that Russia may use the chemical weapons on Ukraine or Nato as they did in past conflicts. Despite their constant remarks and reassurances on the matter, America has yet to enforce anything against Russia, with minimal effort or support given to Ukraine. Of course, it’s not that Biden is afraid of having a complete Nuclear War with Russia, it is just that the impact the risk would be too high. Russia has many high impactful weapons such as nukes and high-grade missiles, ranking first in pure missile military power, prompting other countries in supporting them for fear of targeting or possible invasion.
In light of recent events, Ukraine has remained strong in the midst of the attacks, with President Volodymr Zelenskyy being the main figure in the heart of the conflict. As people, we must support the vulnerable and protect the delusional. Please spread the word and notify others of the disgraceful practices of the Russian Government.
